Original Contemporary Painting
Ricardo CID シド | 100 × 100 cm
In IKARO, Ricardo CID シド brings the myth of Icarus into the contemporary visual landscape. Suspended above a city, the figure wears a New York Yankees cap, streetwear and sneakers, replacing classical iconography with recognizable symbols of today's urban culture.
The painting embodies SHIDO シド, the artist's distinctive pictorial style, in which figurative Neo-Expressionism, abstraction, geometry and influences from street art converge.
Distorted anatomy, an asymmetrical gaze and gestural brushwork move the figure beyond naturalistic representation. Abstraction reshapes the surrounding space through fields of colour and simplified architectural forms, while geometric wings, constructed from contrasting planes and joined by seams painted in metallic gold acrylic, evoke both the ambition and fragility of flight.
The urban references are more than decorative details. Clothing, symbols and recognizable brands bring a universal human conflict into a contemporary culture in which identity is also shaped through visual expression.
Icarus has not yet fallen. Suspended between the city and the sun, he remains caught in the moment when freedom, ambition and risk become inseparable.
